Pioneer in scheduled transport
Ebner Reisen has been running public transport lines since 1927. Hans Ebner founded the "Zum Dobratschaufstieg" line that led from Villach to the mountain village of Heiligengeist – where the Ebner company headquarters is located. Later, the tour was expanded to go to Bad Bleiberg and Kreuth as well as Nötsch. During the busy days of mining in Bad Bleiberg, there were up to 10 buses running – mainly providing services for the workers of the Bleiberg Mining Union. A further milestone in public transport – not only for Ebner Reisen but for the entire province of Carinthia – was the foundation of Kärnten Bus GmbH. A consortium of 9 companies bought 17 buses previously operated by Austrian Rail when the bus division of Austrian Rail was privatised. Ebner Reisen was actively involved in the negotiations and acquisition of licenses for “Kärnten Bus”.
